1. Position and functions:

The Geological Information and Archive Center is a public service unit under the Department of Geology and Minerals of Vietnam, having the function to check, receive, manage, archive, protect and provide geological and mineral data according to the regulations; implements the geological information and publication works; training staff in the field of geological information and archive.

2. Duties and powers

1. To participate in the elaboration of legal documents on management, protection and basic geological and mineral survey and mineral activities.

2. To submit to the Director General of DGMV development plans, long-term, 5 year and annual plans of the Center; elaborate and participate in elaboration of procedures, specifications and technico-economic norms in the geological information and archiving work.

3. To check, receive, archive and protect geological documents and reports submitted to the geological archive according to the regulations; assist the Director General of DGMV to check the archiving of the original materials in subordinate units of DGMV.

4. To integrate geological and mineral information and data to serve the management as well as geological, mineral research and survey and mineral activities.

5. To study and apply information technology in management as well as in geological, mineral research, survey and mineral activities.

6. To build, manage and geological archive stores meeting the requirements in terms of safety and modernity; to apply advanced scientific and technological methods in the preservation and restoration reports and documents to avoid damage, ensuring long standing quality for geological documents.

7. To build and develop the geological library meeting the requirements in terms of modernity and expand international cooperation in the field of library.

8. To participate in scientific events in geological information and archiving; To disseminate popular scientific information on geology, mineral resources and mineral activities; to organize the translation, editing and publication of geological documents according to the plan assigned by the DGMV.

9. To take the lead and coordinate with related agencies and units to organize professional training for the staff of the Division according to the plan assigned by the DGMV

10. To archive, manage and provide geological and mineral documents according to the law.

11. To organize the implementation of the production and service activities in the field of geology, mineral resources and other services according to the law.

12. To manage the organization, personnel, labor and salary according to the regulations and the delegation of responsibilities by DGMV; manage and use efficiently the funds and properties allocated by the State; manage capital construction projects according to the law and assignment of the MONRE and DGMV.

13. To implement other duties assigned by the Director General of DGMV.
