PALEONTOLOGY

Fossil collections received in different periods on the territory of Viet Nam and adjacent areas.

1) Collections of French geologists, such as Dussault L., Deprat J., Mansuy H., Zeiller R., Lantenois H., Jacob C. collected in Viet Nam, Laos, Cambodge and Yunnan (China), including: - Femur of dinosaurs found in Cretaceous sediments from Muong Phalane, Lower Laos.

Fish fossils Trilobite fossils Fish fossils - Fossils of brachiopods (Brachiopoda) and gastropods (Gastropoda). - Late Paleozoic bivalves collected from Laos and Permian bivalves from Viet Nam, Laos, Cambodge and Yunnan (China). - Permian foraminiferas of simple structure collected from Việt Nam, Laos, Cambodge and Yunnan (China). - Flora fossils collected from the Hon Gai Coal Basin (Quang Ninh Province). - Cambrian trilobites collected from Dong Van (Ha Giang Province), Dong Son (Thanh Hoa) and other places.

Fossils of Early Jurassic ammonites   2) Fossils collected during the geological mapping of North Viet Nam at 1:500,000 scale (1960-1965) including: - Corals; - Brachiopods; - Molluscs; - Flora; - Foraminiferas; These fossils were studied by Vietnamese and Soviet paleontologists.

3) Fossils collected during the geological mapping of South Viet Nam at 1:500,000 and the whole country at 1:200,000 scales (1975-1985), including:

- Plates of photos of foraminiferas;

- Collection of molluscs: bivalves and cephalopods;

- Collection of ammonites.

- Collection of brachiopods;

- Collections of trilobites, graptolites and crinoids;

- Collections of conodonts and spores and pollens;

- Flora of the Hon Gai Coal Basin

- Neogene flora

- Devonian fishes

Rare and precious samples of fauna and flora fossils, such as:

- Early Carboniferous colonial corals found in My Duc, Quang Binh Province;

- Early Jurassic large-sized ammonite of a new species established in Viet Nam found in Buon Ma Thuot, Dak Lak Province;

- Tree-trunk of sphenopsids collected from Dien Bien Town, Dien Bien Province;

- Rather abundant collection of Devonian fishes (of about 400 Ma) with many new genera and species;

- Collection of Early Paleozoic trilobites (of about 500 Ma);

- Jaw of Miocene rhinoceros collected from Hang Mon coal mine, Son La Province.
